Description The Regional Teen Director has the primary responsibility for the overall organization, administration, development, supervision and implementation of the Y's teen programs and fostering relationships with local middle/high schools for their designated regions. The Regional Teen Director is responsible for the overall guidance and programming of their assigned Region under the supervision of the Executive Director of Teen Development. Regional Teen Directors support up to 3 YMCA communities by providing guidance, programming and mentorship to young people. Additional responsibilities include supervision of the Teen Program Leader's and other hourly support staff, while providing direct leadership to assigned programs.
Key Responsibilities In accordance with the policies, by-laws and constitution of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the Regional Teens Director is directly responsible for the Y Experience in each of their branches, including customer service and high-quality programming.
The Regional Teen Director will ensure success in the following areas of responsibility to support a strong Y Experience:
- Program Delivery -Delivery quality weekly programming and ensure that programs meet expectations for related grant and funding requirements; provide necessary information and statistics for reporting.
- Program Design - Plan, develop, implement and evaluate all YMCA Teen programs which must include, but are not limited to: Y Achievers, Leaders Club, Youth and Government, safety and social networking, educational support, leadership programming and professional development.
- Character Development & Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Ensure a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout teen programming.
- Enrollment, Growth and Experience - Facilitate, recruit and retain teen involvement for YMCA Signature Programs (Achievers, Leaders and Youth & Government); manage roster and drive attendance and quality.
- Partnerships -Establish and maintain relationships with local middle and high schools in the service area to help recruit and retain teens, provide collaboration and meet the needs of each individual community; Act as liaison to local law enforcement officials, in partnership with applicable Executives.
- Marketing and community engagement - Represent and promote Y programs in the community and at events; Serves on at least one community based committee to ensure the YMCA is viewed as a leader in serving teens.
- Performance Achievement - Ultimately accountable for the performance of their team and the delivery of all sports programming. Directly responsible for hiring, coaching and managing all Teen leaders, volunteers and part time staff, ensuring compliance with association hiring practices for all positions.
- Fiscal management - In collaboration with the Executive Director of Teen Development, develop and monitor an annual budget according to association instructions and ensure successful execution to the plan.
- Collaboration - Work with leadership of assigned branches to share program OKRs and coordinate shared spaces and expectations.
- Direct Service - Provide 75% direct service facilitating teen programming.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise - Four year college degree in a related field is preferred.
- Y of the USA Team Leader Certified is preferred.
- Experience in the administration of Teen programs.
- Additional experience in the areas of teen development, and collaborations is required.
- CPR, First Aid & other program specific certifications required upon or after hire.
- Travel within assigned region required.
- Schedule flexibility is required for weekend evenings.
