Job Description

Ascension Search Partners has been engaged by a successful private equity / family office firm in the greater DFW metroplex area who is ready to bring on a Chief Financial Officer. This person will be responsible for the entire investment portfolio of a fund with an exceptional history of returns and will report to the the Founder.

This role requires a forward thinking, proactive strong finance and fund accounting leader with understanding and management company skillset in private equity fund or fund administrator, preferably with a CPA license and background in public accounting. The ideal candidate with have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work cohesively in a team.

The CFO will work closely with the Investment team in providing day‐to‐day leadership for the fund including guiding the strategic direction of the firm’s accounting and finance activities. The CFO will be proactive in addressing issues that may be important in the future and will identify value‐add strategies that benefit the family and the overall operations of the department. This individual will oversee several important operating functions including comprehensive accounting and reporting, tax planning and compliance, investment oversight, forecasting, philanthropic coordination, and risk management. This role requires a significant level of individual initiative, the ability to multi‐task, and thrive in a dynamic, fast‐paced environment.

Primary Duties:

• Oversight and management of the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the firm and related entities, including trusts, family foundations, and investment vehicles

• Provide oversight to treasury functions, day‐to‐day cash flow, expense processing, and vendor management

• Assist with management and oversight of properties and household personnel

• Development, management, and presentation of active liquidity dashboards and cash forecasts for transparency

• Oversight of the maintenance of investment ledgers and assistance with execution of investment documents including tracking performance, processing capital calls/distributions, and completion of subscription agreements

• Collaboration with tax professionals in the preparation of filings for partnerships, individuals, and trusts

• Proactively work with counsel and tax advisors to derive the most optimal tax strategies and structures for individuals and entities

• Organize and prepare debt and other compliance requirements for credit facilities and regulatory agencies

• Collaborate with external advisors/consultants (lawyers, external investment advisors, compliance officers, etc.)

• Continually monitor and evaluate processes and invoke changes/efficiencies where needed

Educational/Experience Level:

• CPA license

• BA/BS in Accounting or related field

• 15+ years of professional experience in a private equity firm or family office with progressive experience from accounting through finance

• Prior experience working within Big 4 public accounting and for a private equity fund, family office, fund administrator, public accounting firm or administrator

• Be knowledgeable with respect to partnership and credit agreements and other deal documentation, as well as outstanding investment commitments and cash flow projections

• Partnership accounting or multi‐tiered entity structures

• Familiarity with tax concepts to assist in the review and coordination of tax matters

• Proven ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of core operations and execute strategic thought and direction on deliverables

• Exhibit intellectual curiosity with strong problem‐solving, strategic thinking skills

• Must be a proactive thinker, highly analytical, and numbers focused as all decisions will be data driven

• Must possess superior communication skills and a willingness to be collaborative as they will interact with a wide variety of professionals with different functional expertise

• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to influence and drive change and build teams
