**Carrier Sales Representative**
Chicago, IL **Job purpose**
Act as a strategic and tactical sales representative to facilitate the achievement of the business goals through all sales activities including: managing a freight portfolio from pick up to delivery, provide and negotiate freight rates, building carrier relationships, leverage knowledge of the business and industry to influence and impact decision-making processes.
**Duties and responsibilities**
* Provide and negotiate freight rates to motor carriers and the internal sales team as needed to ensure maximum profitability
* Coordinate available customer freight with available motor carrier equipment
* Consistently provide service and support to motor carriers in an effort to build the business relationship
* Provide collaboration with the Customer Sales team to streamline processes
* Manage performance expectations through carrier account metrics
* Communicate with motor carriers to provide tracking updates on shipments and help to resolve issues
* Verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of Bill of Lading, and resolve all payables discrepancy prior to final payment to motor carrier
* Identify lanes and/or carriers to source capacity and add to your network on an ongoing basis
* Be available outside the office for urgent issues requiring attention
* Work assigned weekend shifts (1-2 max per quarter), primarily on a Saturday
* Other duties as assigned

**Working conditions**
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available.
