The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional aerospace engineer in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. The position is responsible for work related to the integration of the aeronautics and astronautics sciences within the broad arena of aviation and space exploration. Responsibilities Perform professional aerospace engineering work in the areas of aviation, aerospace defense! systems, components, and/or associated equipment in support of the acquisition, development, and/or sustainment of weapon systems and subsystems. Employ scientific and engineering principles to design, develop, test, evaluate, and/or determine maintenance requirements. Perform analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects or tasks. Determine the business and technical needs of customers. Degree: Have a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering from a curriculum (1) in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineer curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (beyond first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics; (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Additional Qualification Requirement - SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have, or will have within 120 days of closing of this announcement, 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower band level (NH-02) or equivalent to lower grade (GS-11) pay scale serve as a professional aerospace engineer in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. The position is responsible for work related to the integration of the aeronautics and astronautics sciences within the broad area of aviation and space exploration, and is accountable for engineering assignments concerning Structures and Aerodynamics Testing. Establishes preliminary design and performance characteristics and engineering responsibility extends through development to final approval for production and modifications through service use. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. "IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT" (WILL NOT BE USED FOR QUALIFICATIONS): An engineer with experience in assessing and managing cost, schedule, and performance for Air Force weapons or platform programs. Knowledge of the SEEK EAGLE Process and the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of professional aerospace engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development and execution. Knowledge of air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles and systems. Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to analyze data and establish requirements for technical objectives and characteristics. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies. Ability to use computer applications in support of planning, designing, analysis, and reporting. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
